A Memorial to Wilford "Bill" Barr

Members and friends of the Lisbon Historical Society were saddened to learn of the death of Wilford "Bill" E. Barr 84, of High St. Lisbon Falls Bill died Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at Central Maine Medical Center.

Bill has been a cornerstone in the work of the Historical Society and was among the founding members of the historical society. His dedicated work and cheerful presence will be missed. We were all use to seeing him on each Thursday as he worked on the newly acquired articles and seeing that they were properly placed in books for others to use. He was also able to give many visitors a helping hand and tell stories of the families of the area.

Bill was the treasurer and assistant archivist for the society.

Visitation is at Crosman Funeral Home on Sunday, May 15, 4-7 PM. Bills funeral will be on Monday May 16, 11 AM at the funeral home. Committal will be held at a later date at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Bill's Birthday Bill with antique spoon
Bill always liked to share in time to eat. This was on the occasion of his birthday and he is holding a cake made for him by Dot Smith. At the "antique show" on April 13, 2011, Bill was quick to find humor in a spoon. Asked where it came from, Bill's response was "From my house."

Memorial gifts may be given to the Historical Society or to the American Legion where Bill was also an active and valuable member.
